"Most of my notes on this Amarone reference food: fine bitter coffee and bitter chocolate (a scrim for the powerful tannins), meaty beef brisket (a mask for the dark fruit), beefy bouillon richness (the fat texture cut by a knife blade of high acidity). All those elements integrate with finesse to provide clarity to this wine without overt intensity. It feels traditional in a high-acid, high-tannin style, balanced to age." (08/14)

"Showing fine balance, this juicy red offers a creamy palate of plump cherry and plum sauce flavors, layered with fine tannins and accents of mocha, mineral and ground spice. Quite elegant and polished. Drink now through 2024. 2,500 cases made. -AN" (05/14)

Product Description:

Tasting Notes:
"Deep ruby red in color. Warm and refined aromas of ripe fruits on the nose. Complex, smooth, and full-bodied on the palate with cherry and plum notes that continue on to the finish. Pairs well with red meat, game, and aged cheeses. Also an excellent after-dinner wine." - Importer

About the Winerey:
"Villa Girardi is a family owned winery established in 1986. It is located in the valley that joins San Pietro in Cariano and Fumane in the historical Classic Valpolicella wine region. This Venetian villa, dating back to the end of the 1700’s was designed by the architect Luigi Trezza, and is surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards. Mild climate and land rich in limestone creates the perfect conditions to grow local grape varieties: Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Molinara. The "Bure Alto" vineyard grows the most historical grape varieties of the region."

"Villa Girardi has grown throughout the years, acquiring new land in the Verona province DOC area, specializing in the production of high quality wines." - Importer
