John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"The 2011 Maltroie had not yet been fined, but was assembled in tank. The nose is very pure and captivating, wafting from the glass in a mélange of apple, tangerine, a beautifully complex base of soil, orange zest and a deft base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and vibrant, with lovely mid-palate depth, a fine signature of minerality, and lovely focus and grip on the well-balanced and impressively long finish. A very classic example of Maltroie, coupled to the inherent elegance of the vintage. It is not a huge step up from the lovely Remilly or fine Chassagne villages in 2011, but it will certainly show its premier cru pedigree in a far longer life in bottle. 2015-2035."
