"This is just as promising now that it is in bottle as it was when I saw it from cask in November, 2009 with its beautifully perfumed red and blue berry fruit nose that is trimmed in both mineral and violets nuances. The rich and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors are supposed by notably firm tannins that stop short of being aggressive, all wrapped in a long and balanced finish. This is a classic Champonnets that is built to age and will need it. In sum, this is a striking effort though patience will be required."

"High-toned kirsch mingles with ripe fresh cherry, chalk dust, and citrus oil on the nose of Boillot’s 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champonnet, then inform a plate of striking brightness, energy, and irresistible juiciness. The tart exuberance of this Gevrey as well as its surprisingly silken feel belie the relatively young vines that birthed it; and there is an admirable sense of transparency here to mineral nuance. I would anticipate at least a decade’s worth of satisfaction."
