"One of the leading producers of Albarino, the glorious dry white made in northwest Spain, Pazo de Senorans' 2012 Albarino (from slate and gravelly soils) was fermented and aged on its lees with lees stirring. Abundant tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, melons) aromas jump from the glass. The same characteristics linger on the palate, along with wonderful intensity, medium body and terrific purity, texture and freshness. As the wine sits in the glass, undertones of apricots and white peaches emerge. Enjoy this beauty over the next 2-3 years." (11/13)

"Light, bright yellow. Exotic, highly perfumed pit and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by white flowers and ginger. Sappy and broad on the palate, offering intense peach and poached pear flavors and a touch of bitter lemon pith. Finishes smooth and long, with impressive power and lingering florality. Atypically rich for this bottling; I'd serve it with rich fish preparations." (10/13)

Product Description:

Wine:
"Vineyards: In the subregion of Val do Salnes. As is typical in Rias Baixas, vineyards are very small, family owned plots. About one third of the wine is sourced from estate vineyards while the remaining comes from almost 200 growers - all of which have worked with the estate for 20 years and take tremendous pride in their grapes (plus they are paid according to the quality of the grapes). Harvest: Growers bring sample bunches to the winery to be analyzed and winemaker Ana Quintela Suarez dictates when to harvest. Grapes are harvested in small cases and almost always by women. Aging: 4 months in stainless steel on the lees. Farming: sustainable" - Importer

Producer:
"Records that have been found testify that the Pazo Senorans dates back to the 16th century, and that over time, its century-old walls have been silent witnesses to all kinds of events and intrigues. Now converted into a winery and event center, the mansion is a magnificent example of those ancestral Galician houses built in the countryside with all the charm and stateliness of bygone eras."

"Marisol Bueno and Javier Mareque bought this estate in 1979, which already had vineyards planted with the Albarino grape variety. The Pazo Senorans estate covers 14 hectares, of which 8.5 are planted with vines, all of them the Albarino variety, in siliceous, granitic and decomposed soils."

"Marisol Bueno is the true pioneer and force of this young appellation. Through her work, the DO was created in 1988, quality thresholds were introduced, and the region began to receive wider worldwide recognition. Today, the property is one of the few remaining family owned estates, and remains quite small in order to maintain a rigorous level of quality." - Importer
