"Generous in its rich texture and vibrant, mineral-tinged acidity, this is a broad wine with a gingery bite. Scents of nutmeg and apple tart meld with the oak sweetness, balanced in a mouthwatering finish. Delicious with wood-roasted oysters." (12/12)

"The NV Brut Cuvee Classique offers up warm, resonant notes of dried pears, hazelnuts and spices. This is a lovely entry-level Champagne with plenty of breadth and volume, much it from the vinification in oak. Sweet spices notes wrap around the textured finish. The blend is 46% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, Disgorgement date: February 20, 2012." (10/12)

Wine:
"This great classic clearly shows the style of Alfred Gratien. It's a refined blend dominated by fruity Pinot Meunier combined with the elegance of Chardonnay. Fine mousse with extremely long-lasting mousse. Citrus fruit, mango, peach and apricot aromas balance wonderfully with the freshness of exotic fruits on the palate." - Importer
Producer:
"Alfred Gratien founded this estate based on the philosophy that Champagne is not manufactured, it is created. His commitment to quality was reflected in his insistence on selecting only premium fruit, vinification exclusively in small oak casks, limited production, and consideration for the character and individuality of the vineyards. Following in his footsteps, Nicolas Jaeger, as the fourth generation, remains dedicated to his ancestor's ideals and traditions. Under his watchful eye, only the very best cuvees of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier spend a minimum of six months in 228 liter oak casks without malolactic fermentation, followed by at least three years in the bottle before release. This special care, coming from one of the few remaining handmade champagne houses in the world, defines Alfred Gratien as truly exceptional." - Importer
