"The 2011 vintage was cool by Napa standards, with daytime high temperatures hovering in the low 80s. In many respects it was similar to 2010, with the exception of early October rains that brought Tule fog to many parts of Napa Valley. Fog became the determining factor for many vineyards, with the onset of mold dictating picking decisions. Located in a slightly warmer part of the valley with well-drained gravelly soils, the canyons above the Blueline Estate Vineyard produce a thermal draw that quickly dissipates fog. As a result, we were able to wait until optimal ripeness before picking, while the cool days helped retain great natural acidity. The resulting wines feature ripe tannins with supple textures, great aromatics and concentration, with the lift and layering of cooler vintage acidity. Rather than pure power, the 2011 vintage showcases balance, nuance and layers of red and black fruit across our Bordeaux varietals." -Winery
