"As is the case with the other two wines from the domaine that I tasted at the Salon de Gevrey last November, the 2010 Mazis-Chambertin from the domaine was showing even greater potential in March. The deep, complex and utterly superb nose delivers a fine mélange of red and black cherries, grilled meat, woodsmoke, a great base of dark, Gevrey minerality, espresso, mustard seed and a nice framing of spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and complex, with a fine core of fruit, ripe, fine-grained tannins, bright acids, excellent focus and grip and a very, very long, primary and transparent finish.
