About

Ratings:

91-93

"Only one Chateauneuf du Pape cuvee was produced in 2011 as the Usseglios declassified their Mon Aieul and Reserve des Deux Freres into their 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition. The final blend was 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre with 50% aged in cement tanks and the rest in large old wood foudres and small amounts of the Syrah and Mourvedre in demi-muids. The 2011 is one of the finest Tradition cuvees of the vintage. Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by copious aromas of blueberries, mulberries, kirsch, lavender, pepper and Provencal herbs. This fruity, medium to full-bodied effort should drink nicely for a decade."

91-93 Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media

"Opaque ruby. Deeply pitched aromas and flavors of dark berries, cherry and licorice, with a spicy topnote. Sappy and expansive, with uncommon weight for the vintage. Finishes sweet and long, with resonating spiciness and supple tannins. This is the only bottling that Usseglio will make from 2011 so all of the fruit from the estate's oldest vines is in here."
