"The 2009 vintage carries the freshness of this hillside vineyard’s morning fog into a sleek, modernist beauty. Scents of blackberries, green peppercorns and bacon brought Cornas to mind for one taster. There is that kind of stemmy intensity and pretty fruit. Decant this hours before serving with any roast game."

"Dark, with dusty tannins and a solid, firm structure, this has a dense character. The black plum fruit and intense underlying acidity yield a powerful wine that will age over several years."

"The 2009 TINTO (QUINTA DE FOZ DE AROUCE) has become a pretty nice blend in its own right and it is certainly the best price point in the lineup. It is lacking the power and the depth of its old vines sibling reviewed this issue, but otherwise it shows rather nicely and has some considerable class. This year’s version is average in mid-palate concentration, but generally very well balanced and quite tasty. Smoothly textured and rather sensual on opening, it proves more able to coat the palate than it seemed at first, holding on and showing persistence of flavor, but it is a ripe and laid back wine for a Baga-based entrant. I’m not quite sure I liked this quite as much as the lovely 2007, but it is very young and primary and may yet have some room for improvement. Drink now-2021."
