"The 2007 Carmignano Villa di Capezzana is a huge extroverted wine bursting with wild dark cherries, grilled herbs and tobacco. The intense, opulent style is not for the faint of heart. Still, this is a beautifully balanced wine with notable intensity and a persistent finish. The Villa di Capezzana is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022." "Plenty of dried fruits, with currants and light prune. Full body, with silky tannins and a fruity finish. Drink after 2011." (12/11)

"Deep ruby-red. Ripe dark berries, iron, leather and tobacco on the nose. Then soft and ripe on the attack, but with bright flavors of dark berries, minerals and almond paste. Sharply delineated for a wine from such a hot vintage, and very long on the aftertaste, which hints at forest floor and red cherry syrup." (09/12)
