2012 - Domaine De Marquiliani Rose
Sub Region Corsica
library code: 73715
From the Critics:
- "The Domaine Marquiliani of Anne Amalric (for more on whose unique regimen and terroir, consult my issue 205 report) turned out a 2010 rose (reported on there) that I much admired, but her 2012 Rose de Sciacarellu - while sharing that predecessor's combination of rich flavors with utmost delicacy - is yet more polished and savory, helping me to better understand why this wine seems to have gained almost overnight cult status both on Corsica and in those parts of the U.S. where it has appeared. (And when you confront both the wait-list for Amalric's olive oils and their prices, you’ll recognize that these represent an already well-established cult.) A gorgeous nose of hibiscus and lavender, rose petals and strawberry seems to float not just from the rim of the glass but across the palate as its liquid perfume adds to the caress and refreshment of a salt-tinged cooling melon and strawberry soup. The mouthwatering finish here is replete with nuances and prodigiously persistent. Though I have not yet had a chance to significantly test the potential in bottle of Marquiliani rose, I suspect that the present instance will be best enjoyed through 2013, and that few bottles would survive that long even if you'd make a resolution to save one or two for next year." -
