"Dark and brooding, with a good dose of new oak giving spice accents to the blackberry and black currant flavors. Stays pure and balanced, with a vibrant structure. Drink now through 2015. 700 cases imported." (03/12)

"Full red-ruby. Bright, pure aromas of black cherry, licorice and violet. At once bright and supple, with sweet dark berry flavors nicely framed by harmonious acids. Finishes saline, pliant and long, with fine-grained tannins and a late whiplash of licorice. Very nicely balanced barbera." (11/11)
Product Description:
Wine/Winemaking:
"The "Conca Tre Pile" is a hilly area in Bussia Soprana, located directly across the road from the Aldo Conterno winery and the original "Il Favot" farm from which Conterno produces their Langhe Nebbiolo. It is planted with Barbera vineyards up to 45 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand in the first two weeks of October, vinified in stainless steel tanks where the wine stays in contact with the skins for 8-10 days, and then aged 100% new French-oak barriques."
"Aldo Conterno spent much of his early career traveling and learning winemaking techniques around the world. While he makes his Baroli using the time-honored techniques of his forefathers, he saw his other wines as a chance to experiment. His Barbera is velvety and luscious, with bold oak tones and all the ripe, sweet, plum fruit this variety has to offer." - Importer
