"Composed of 70% Shiraz and 30% Malbec, the 2010 Yellow Hammer Hill has a deep garnet-purple color and a perfumed nose of violets, red berry preserves, blueberry pie, kirsch, licorice and a touch of smoky bacon. Very full, rich and voluptuous in the mouth, it has a medium level of velvety tannins and crisp acid to balance the flesh, finishing long with some spice layers coming through. Consider drinking it 2013 to 2021+." (06/12)

The fruit-driven fullness of Shiraz and floral notes and wonderful texture of Malbec, lend themselves to a wine that is delightful when consumed in early years, and develops into a brooding complexity of spice and fruit after cellaring."
"Yellow Hammer Hill was the collective vision of Duck and some long-time friends and fellow 'agricultural drinkers'. The Yellow Hammer Hill block is situated near our oldest vineyard, the Alan's Cabernet Vineyard. The first vines were planted in 1996, after 'Effa' the Fordson Major tractor, had cleared the land of Chinese heath some months earlier." - Winery
Vineyard:
"More recently in 2000, Liam found a fantastic east-facing site nearby. Although it is yet to be named, it has provided us with some great Springflat Shiraz fruit. Most of the planting is Shiraz, however there is a patch of good-old Cabernet and Malbec, and (watch this space) Temperanillo. The Temperanillo has been planted as traditional bush vines - starved of water, nutrients and attention. It was not even ripped well initially, so it should make a great wine!" - Winery

"We are a small family-run winery situated 8km west of Heathcote, alongside the Wild Duck Creek."
"David (aka 'Duck') and Diana planted the first vines in 1979, naming the vineyard Alan's Cabernet Vineyard, after Duck's late father Alan. The Original Vineyard was planted in 1988 on land owned by Diana's parents. Duck and Diana have three children - Liam, Ngaire and Bridie."
