John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"The Bérêche Père et Fils 'Les Beaux Regards' bottling is a Blanc de Blancs, Brut Nature bottling that I crossed paths with in one of the top Beaune wine stores during my November trip. I have not seen this wine available yet in the US market (though it may be here and the importer simply did not send me a sample of this cuvée), and I was very, very impressed with the quality of this wine. The superb nose jumps from the glass in a vibrant blend of green apple, lime peel, stony minerality, bread dough and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full- bodied, crisp and rock solid at the core, with very elegant mousse, excellent complexity, laser- like focus and a very long, minerally-infused and snappy finish. This is a great bottle of Brut Nature. 2013-2025." (02/13)

"Even in a warm vintage, this non-dosé is racy and taut, showing a concentrated ripeness and depth of fruit yet packaging it all within a sleek, streamlined structure. It needs time to develop, having just been disgorged in December of 2012, but it already demonstrates a terrific sense of harmony and grace, feeling energetic and precisely defined. Its finish in particular is unusually long and complete for a non-dosé, anchored by a deeply chalky minerality. Last tasted: 2/13"
