Medium red-purple; a full-flavoured wine punching way above its price weight; the supple Padthaway profile to the black fruits is not quite sufficient to carry the oak, but that's hardly a capital crime.
The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Estate’s Padthaway vineyards. The vines are in various types of soil, including red loam, black loam and deep sand over limestone. The vineyards destined for this wine are harvested when the flavour is ripe, and fermented on skins for a period of five days. Only the free run fraction of the wines is selected for the Morse Code produce a soft, rounded palate with a velvety finish. The wine is matured for a period of around 12 months, with a small proportion of the wine finished ferment in barrel, but the majority was un-oaked to allow the fruit to shine.
