2011 Nikolaihof Riesling Vom Stein Federspiel
apple, pear, peach, apricot and honey
petrol, flint, rose petal, violet, orange peel, apple, pear and peach
"Vom Stein is always more rugged, meatier, more cooked - a brusk and sturdy side of Riesling. The 2011 is structured and stony, with more forward peach type fruits couple with smokey rocks; all quite defined and etched, less burly than some vintages. More elegant and still capable of unfolding over the next 5-7 years."
"Vom Stein is not technically a vineyard name, but a vineyard territory (cluster of vineyards) once known by this name. Nikolaihof aims to maintain the ancient traditions of this area and retains this name for this wine under their own registered trademark." -Importer
