"This is easily the finest example of Lagrein you will find. Dense and powerful, with great terroir. The fruit is fresh and ripe, but still allows the gamey qualities of the grape to show just enough. A true gem of Northern Italy. This wine has consistently scored 93 points or more by Antonio Galloni of the Wine Advocate."

"Niedrist’s 2010 Lagrein Gries Berger Gei comes across as quite powerful and closed in on itself in this vintage. Usually a much flashier wine, in 2010 the Berger Gei is going to need some serious air to open up. I imagine it will always be fairly structured, but today, the 2010 is all about potential. Hints of tar, smoke and incense struggle to emerge from this shut down, reticent Lagrein. Readers will need to give the 2010 considerable air to open."
