"A strong success, the 2003 offers a fragrant bouquet of black cherry jam, cedar, and toasty vanilla, a beautiful texture, and considerable persistence on the palate. The final blend included 27% Petit Verdot, which is rather remarkable. Perhaps that explains the freshness in this wine from the southern Medoc. Drink it over the next 7-8 years." (April '06)

Ruby-red color. Slightly reduced aromas of black cherry, blackberry and spices hint at a chocolatey ripeness. A supple, sweet midweight, with enticing dark berry, game and licorice flavors. Initially seemed rather suave and fine-grained, but turned a bit heavy in the glass, ultimately displaying a strong chocolatey character. (May/June '04)

Product Description:

WINE:
"The climatic conditions were exceptional this year for the Petit Verdot, which then became an important variety in this blend. The nose is dominated by notes that are associated with this variety (flowers, cherries). On the palate, this wine is rich and bold, and has a refreshing finish, something rare for the 2003 vintage. This is a wine with great balance and structure that denotes it will age nicely."

"Blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 27% Petit Verdot. The wine was fermented over a period of 4 weeks, with daily pumping overs. Aged in 40% new oak barrels and 60% in one year barrels. The barriques were a mix of Troncais and Hungarian and were aged for 12-14 months." -Winery; translated by KM
