Description

"The Domaine: This small domaine in Pommard, founded in 1850, is owned and operated by Jacky Gaunoux, amply assisted by her son Alexandre, who has taken over the majority of vineyard and winemaking responsibilities. Madame Gaunoux is a petite, attractive lady in her early sixties, who is very particular of all her operations. To quote Anthony Hanson, one of the best specialists of Burgundy, “this is an immaculate, working museum, dedicated to traditions.” Taking over the winery after her husband passed away unexpectedly several years ago, Madame Gaunoux broke new grounds as one of the first women to run a Burgundy estate in such a male-dominated environment. Her strength of character and her quest for excellence have resulted in her wines continuing to meet the domaine’s historically high standards of quality and ageability." -Importer
