From the Critics:
- "A ripe and notably somber but attractively spicy nose blends both red and blue berry fruit with earth nuances that can also be found on the rich, round, supple and refined medium-bodied flavors that possess moderately good, if not truly special, depth and length. However, like the Clos de Vougeot, it just feels as though there is more here than is presently being reflected and again, my score reflects this optimism that it will surface in time." -
- "At Maison Jadot, one of my absolute “sleeper” bottlings in the cellar is their stunning Clos St. Denis, made from ninety year-old vines owned by the Gagey family. The 2009 is a beautiful wine in the making, as it delivers a complex and classy aromatic mélange of red and black cherries, plums, spice tones, a great base of soil, coffee, mustard seed and a nice touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and classy, with lovely intensity of flavor, fine mid-palate intensity, lovely transparency and great length and grip on the suavely tannic finish. Just a quintessential expression of Clos St. Denis, the most elegant of Morey’s grand crus. 2020-2070+." -
