"Medium red. Pungent red berry and mocha aromas are lifted by powerful crushed-stone minerality and complicated by an ineffable floral/earthy perfume. A real essence of 2008 on the palate, with outstanding sappy cut and penetration to the flavors of cherry, red berries, minerals and spice oil. The building finish spreads out inexorably to saturate the palate. Rigorous and stimulating: a wine of extraordinary complexity, energy and depth. This was one of my top 2008s from barrel a year ago and it's at least as impressive in bottle."

"Tasted at Louis Jadot’s annual tasting in London. Backward and broody on the nose, but well defined and pure, showing more vigour and freshnes than the Griotte. Blackberry, dark cherry, chestnut and walnut. Good breeding here. The palate is medium-bodied, lovely caressing tannins, good acidity, pure black fruits interlaced with nutmeg, black pepper and tobacco. Elegant and yet powerful towards the finish, but a long distance this is Jadot’s best 2008 red. Great length. Superb. Drink 2012-2030. Tasted January 2010"

Product Description:

"The 2008 Clos de Beze is a fantastic young wine that perfectly captures all of the potential latent in this fine vintage. The bouquet soars from the glass in an utterly sophisticated mélange of black cherries, cassis, smoked meat, espresso, a touch of dark chocolate and a profoundly complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full- bodied, long and very transparent, with a sappy core of black fruit, fine-grained tannins, laser-like focus and a very long, tangy and properly reserved finish. A stunning wine in the making that will take a full decade to blossom, and should prove to be very long lived for an '08. 2018-2060."

"A slightly more expressive and notably spicier nose of primarily red berry fruit aromas that display ample floral and earth nuances that can also be found on the rich and full-bodied flavors that possess slightly more complexity and culminate in a serious, powerful and long finish that is a bit more persistent. I very much like the vibrancy and beautiful sense of completeness. A serious Beze built to age." -91-93 Points - Allen Meadows - Burghound
