Product Description:
"Eric Texier and his wife, Laurence, studied nuclear science in France and in Illinois. When the wine siren beckoned in 1992, Eric went back to school, studying viticulture and oenology, then went to Sologny in the Maconnais and spent six months working and learning in the Verget cellars. His first wines, not surprisingly, were from Macon, but almost immediately he began to search for fruit further south. Acting as a negociant, in the smallest way imaginable, a la Frederic Magnien, Eric buys grapes from growers who do what he wants. He is mostly interested in old and underappreciated vines. What he discovered in his first two years is nothing short of astonishing. His approach to winemaking is both modern and old-fashioned. He vinifies all of his Rhones as if they were Burgundies. His touch is therefore light, and involving cold maceration of all reds, extensive lees stirring on whites, and the gentlest, non-filtered, gravity powered bottling possible." -Importer
