From the Critics:
- "This may be the ultimate French collaboration. Possibly the best winemaker in Bordeaux (Stephan Derenoncourt) pairing with the owner of possibly the best restaurant in France (L'Ami Louis). This newly revamped winery is turning out excellent wine in only it's first vintage; most of the credit can go to Derenoncourt and his fabulous team. Dark and brooding, with great integration of oak, tannin and acidity. Polished and showing nicely very early on, this should continue to age well for 10 to 15 years. 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon."
The regular cuvee of this wine earned a 90 Point score from Robert Parker! This was Parker's review on the regular cuvee - "This is the debut vintage from proprietor Thierry de la Brosse, the principal owner of the most famous and expensive bistro in all of Paris, L-Ami Louis. Chateau Louis is part of the estate previously known as Rol de Frombauge, and Stephane Derenoncourt is the force behind the wine. Made from remarkably low yields of 16 hectoliters per hectare, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2006 exhibits sweet aromas of black currants, cherries, spice box, Christmas fruitcake, and roasted herbs. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, pure, and elegant, with noticeable tannin in the finish, this cuvee will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age, and should keep for 15 years." -
