"As I indicated last year, quality has improved dramatically at this estate, and the 2006 is a quintessentially elegant Bordeaux displaying a dark ruby/purple color, a lovely bouquet of forest floor, sweet cherries, cranberries, and black currants, medium body, a textured, sweet, tannic mouthfeel, and a long finish. Everything is beautifully pure as well as perfectly balanced in this outstanding effort. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. Excellent value."
This wine is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. -Winery
Looking for a great cheese pairing with this wine?
For a Cabernet-heavy Bordeaux like the Cantemerle, try out the Fort Lucotte Comte 14 Month Saint Antoine. This rich wine, with good tannins on the finish, needs a cheese that can stand up to it. Thanks to its longer period of aging, the Fort Lucotte Comte has a rich flavor and nice creaminess to hold its own with the wine.
