2014 Champagne Philipponnat Le Leon Pinot Noir from France
#138633 750 mL
2014 Champagne Philipponnat Le Leon
97 Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate
From grapes picked in the Le Leon area, a single-plot vineyard covering 2.5 hectares, the 2014 Le Léon extra brut from Philipponnat has a gorgeous, fresh bouquet with aromas of white pepper, spring flowers, red berries, pear, white fruits and menthol intertwined with vanilla and spice notes. Medium to full-bodied, incisive and pure, it’s crystalline with a delicate, beautifully fine-boned and intensely mineral palate that concludes with a penetrating, mouthwatering, very long finish. This 100% Pinot Noir could see its 20th anniversary in fine form.

2021 Vina Almaviva Puente Alto Magnum
98 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
A fresh and discreet Almaviva with subtle pencil shavings and cigar box to the cassis and hints of chili chocolate and peppermint. Nuanced and subtle on the nose. This is medium-bodied and subtle on the palate with silky tannins in the seamless finish. Very long. 71% cabernet sauvignon, 22% carmenere, 5% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Drinkable now, but it will take its time to deliver complexity.

2022 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne Romanee Pinot Noir from France
#144142 750 mL
2022 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne Romanee
90-92 Neal Martin - Vinous Media
The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Village has a sensual bouquet with pure redcurrant and crushed strawberry fruit, just a touch of violet popping up with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and well-balanced with rounded tannins. It’s a succulent Vosne-Romanée with a good body and a sustained finish. Recommended.
89-91 William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Cathiard's 2022 Vosne-Romanée is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, plums, spices, orange zest and peony. Medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, it's more enveloping than the firmer, more overtly tannic Nuits-Saint-Georges, concluding with a perfumed finish.

2014 Philipponnat Extra Brut Clos Des Goisses Grand Cru Blend from France
#138632 750 mL
2014 Philipponnat Extra Brut Clos Des Goisses Grand Cru
93 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2014 Extra Brut Clos des Goisses is soft, open-knit and quite gracious. Readers will find a relatively accessible Goisses that will drink well with minimal cellaring. All the Goisses signatures are present, but they are dialed down. This cuvée typically shows more body, breadth and persistence, but those qualities were hard to come by in 2014. Hints of tangerine peel, marzipan, chamomile and spice linger. The blend is 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2023

2012 Giuseppe Quintarelli Alzero Magnum Cabernet Franc from Italy
#125457 1.5L
2012 Giuseppe Quintarelli Alzero Magnum
96 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Quintarelli Giuseppe 2012 Cabernet Alzero (packaged in a heavy glass bottle) is a stunning wine that delivers a level of cautious brawn, intensity and fruit weight that sets this wine apart within the portfolio. The blend is 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, and the grapes all undergo a few months of appassimento. I've been asked about possible perception of VA (volatile acidity) that can sometimes appear in wines made with air-dried fruit. As a much-respected Italian colleague once told me, "serve a dare spalla," ("it gives a shoulder to the wine"), and I can't help but admire the beautifully lifted and upright quality of the bouquet that appears especially radiant and buoyant in this wine. The magic, whatever it is, works.

2020 Chateau Cos D'estournel Blend from France
#138387 1.5L
2020 Chateau Cos D'estournel
97 Neal Martin - Vinous Media
The 2020 Cos d'Estournel, which was bottled in July, has lost some of the exoticism that it showed out of barrel. Within five minutes of aeration it develops a complex bouquet: black fruit laced with graphite and subtle cedar aromas, a charcoal back-note and later pressed iris flowers. I foresee this gaining more nuance with bottle age. The palate is taut, lean and precise. Lightly spiced on the entry, with finely-chiseled tannins, again, not quite as precocious as it showed in barrel, allowing the terroir to come through more. There is something almost understated about this vintage vis-Ă -vis others, razor-sharp precision with just the right amount of salinity on the finish. This is a classy offering that will mature beautifully in bottle. A keeper.

2021 Wine And Soul Pintas Douro Blend from Portugal
#143179 750 mL
2021 Wine And Soul Pintas Douro
96 Wine Advocate - Wine Advocate
The 2021 Pintas has an impressive nose—open, extroverted, aromatic and floral, a little toasty and smoky. This is always produced from the same vineyard at 400 to 450 meters above sea level on schist soils. It's spicy and has some creaminess, but it feels balanced and has freshness and acidity to absorb the oak with more time in bottle. It matured in 225-liter barrels, 20% of them new, for 20 months. This vineyard is very consistent; the old vines have deep roots, and the high altitude contributes to the freshness—and the 2021 vintage also helps! 6,000 bottles produced.
95 Wine Spectator
Taut and minerally, offering a sanguine edge of iron and loamy earth notes interlaced with a dark, complex core of mulberry and blackberry fruit, mountain herbs, violet and cocoa powder. Firmed by chalky tannins and bright acidity, this is long and focused, revealing more as it opens in the glass. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Rufete. Best from 2027 through 2039. 100 cases imported.

Equipo Navazos Manzanilla Pasada #120 Botas Palomino from Spain
#145384 500 mL
Equipo Navazos Manzanilla Pasada #120 Botas
97+ Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The NV La Bota de Manzanilla Pasada 120 Botas NO is the most recent bottling of this mythical wine, in this case the result of combining the “Bota Punta” with two outstanding casks of the 1/15 solera. This is an extraordinary Manzanilla of character, complexity and depth, with 14 years of average age, matured under flor for 10 years (and in a more oxidative way the last four to five years) in topped-up barrels. So, it's a little in the way of turning into an Amontillado but keeping the biological and saline character of the Manzanilla. I tasted from an opened bottle, and the wine had closed down and took some time to open up. The nose is impressive, for the first time with some Amontillado hints, mainly hazelnuts and a little varnish. It has concentration and depth, persistence and pungency. It's approachable and has the stuffing and balance to age nicely. 3,000 half-liter bottles produced. It was bottled in 2023.

2022 Domaine Roulot Meursault Villages Chardonnay from France
#143201 750 mL
2022 Domaine Roulot Meursault Villages
95 Allen Meadows - Burghound
Moderate reduction is enough to dominate the underlying fruit today. More interesting are the succulent but racy middle weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate volume and fine punch that carries over to the nicely dry, balanced and firm finale. This is clearly intended to reward mid-term keeping and at least some cellaring will be necessary.
2021 Domaine Jean Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc Blend from France
#140121 750 mL
2021 Domaine Jean Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc
95+ Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
Recently bottled, the 2021 Hermitage Blanc is a brilliant wine that shows a fresher, more mineral-driven style while still clearly being in the classic Jean-Louis concentrated, textured style. White currants, crushed citrus, flowers, green almond, and a kiss of reductive-like minerality all define the aromatics, and if you called this a great Grand Cru White Burgundy in a blind tasting, I wouldn't hold it against you. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully balanced, with a terrific salinity on the finish, it's going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and I suspect evolve for 20-25 years.

Fresh mid yellow. This is the classic nose that I expect. Rich and bright on the palate with honey and lemon, reminiscent of the flavours of a hot toddy when you are feeling under the weather. Super in its style. 14.5% alcohol. Drink from 2024-2027.

2021 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Rosso Di Toscana Sangiovese from Italy
#145884 750 mL
2021 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Rosso Di Toscana
99 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Black cherry, black truffle and bark. Fresh earth and pine cone. It’s medium-bodied with extremely integrated tannins that are so vivid and so pure, like essence of Sangiovese. Strength with balance. Best in three to four years.
98+ Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2021 Le Pergole Torte is a real stunner. Rich, deep and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2021 is captivating from the very first taste. In bottle, this is quite a bit more reticent than it was as a barrel sample, which, in my view, is a positive. Even so, readers should be prepared to cellar the 2021 for a number of years at a minimum.
97 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Beautifully saturated and rich in terms of complexity (but not in extraction), the Montevertine 2021 Le Pergole Torte remains focused and elegantly streamlined with a very bright-red cherry element that defines this classic vintage. There are tart fruit flavors to close, followed by firm but silky tannins. A hint of the skins also comes through on the bouquet and adds a little more weight and substance. This wine (which is worked in cement vats, oak cask and Allier barrique) finishes with polished slate-like mineral nuances. This is a 29,000-bottle release.
