It's hard to argue here. It's just simply very, very difficult to find a top-flight Chateauneuf du Pape ... for $29.99. Especially one that consistently scores well with so many wine critics. That however, is exactly what happened here.

Take a look at the raves below from the Wine Spectator, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Vinous and you will quickly see why we are so excited here!

"An elegant style, with silky tannins carrying pretty blood orange, cherry, rooibos tea and incense notes. A light twinge of shiso leaf runs through the finish. Shows lots of charm and sneaky length. Drink now through 2024. 350 cases imported" - 90 Points Wine Spectator

"The base 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape, this outstanding red is an elegant, finesse-oriented beauty that’s reminiscent of a classy Pinot Noir with its medium-bodied richness, sweet tannin and perfumed bouquet of strawberries, framboise, spice and crushed flowers. Drink it over the coming 5-6 years." - 90 Points Wine Advocate

"Bright ruby. Raspberry, candied flowers and white pepper on the highly perfumed nose. Silky, palate-staining red berry compote flavors pick up subtle smoke and floral pastille qualities with air, along with a suggestion of allspice. Finishes appealingly sweet and long; fine-grained tannins lend grip to the juicy, clinging red fruit." - 90-92 Points Vinous

This effort was sourced from estate owned vineyards across the appellation. The vines are 60-80 years old! This is ... from start to finish ... a super impressive bottle that you can drink now or put away in the cellar for several years!

More about this winery:

"The “domaine” saw the light of day thanks to Pierre and Mireille Giraud’s zeal and two families coming together. The story begins in 1974 when Pierre and Mireille, as their parents did before them, took on 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines. Little by little the Domaine has grown through years exclusively on the appellation. In 1998, Pierre was ready to pass on his love of the vine and wine to his children. Marie and François took on the estate hand-in-hand. Under their parents’ watchful eye, they devoted themselves to tending vines and winemaking. They focused their efforts on selecting parcel by parcel, doing minimal treatments, upgrading their cellar to make finer and finer wines while respecting family traditions. François tries hard to tend each parcel and variety respecting the “terroir” as much as possible, that alchemy nature provides us with, to fully express our grapes’ full character. Renowned oenologist Philippe Cambie consults for the Domaine.

We're very attached to "Tradition," our inheritance passed on from our parents and their parents before them for generations. This wine symbolises our affection for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, our family and our obsession. It's made from a blend of mostly Grenache. Rich and powerful, it reflects its "terroir" with those black cherry notes typical of our appellation." - Importer
