Few words bring back fonder memories of childhood days quite like the word Smarties. I’m willing to bet just reading that made your mouth water a little bit. Come on, be honest! Fun fact – the name “Smarties” is derived from the verb “to smart”, which describes the sometimes awkward, always hilarious sight of someone’s face puckering. Throw that one out at the next party you attend and watch people marvel at your brilliance.

When pairing a wine with such a sugary candy, consider something that will add balance. You’re already in for a face scrunching good time, now we need something to compliment the experience. A bottle of the 2014 Innocent Bystander Pink Moscato will more than do the trick, but don’t let the name fool you, this wine is anything but a goody two-shoes.

The nose features blasts of coriander and ripe melon, an experience that sets the tone for the incoming Smarties. Flavors of peach, orange and grape create a symphony with the orange-cream, cherry and strawberry candy flavors. A wild and fruity ride, the two items seem almost destined to be together.

So after all that, how much is that mouth watering now??
