A tremendous price for a top flight Brunello.
Think it is impossible to find great value from a top notch Brunello producer?  Think again.  The 2009 Collelceto is a perfect example of just how far you can stretch your dollar ... especially if you know where to look.
Not only did this wine earn an outstanding 90+ point score from the Wine Advocate, our price of just $26.99 per bottle when you buy a case or more almost makes you turn your head and wonder.  Brunello ... for $26.99 per bottle?  The answer ... is yes.
In fact, Monica Larner from Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate scored this wine higher than Il Poggione, Fresobaldi Castelgiocondo, Poggio Antico and Antinori Pian delle Vigne.  Yes, it's THAT impressive!  As you can see from the notes below, this is just starting to hit its drink now window.
Dollar for dollar, you will be hard pressed to find a Brunello of this pedigree ... at a price point that is even close to $26.99.  In fact, while we are at it, we would be hard pressed to find many other premium, collector wines that have this much going for them, in this price point.
Bottom line, this is a sensational buy for the price.

Location, location, location: Brunello's southern Montalcino zone.

This Brunello boasts upfront, richly textured Brunello fruit from an area of Southern Montalcino that is critically acclaimed for its warmer, aromatic and palate-drenching style!  The estate is chiefly comprised of clay loam, rich in pebbles giving it slight water stress in the final phase of maturation.  It spends 24 months aging in barrel and then another 8-10 months in bottle before it is released.  It's a classic Brunello, full bodied and rich.  Notes of tobacco and lavender.  Great structure and perfectly balanced.

This is one of the big reasons why we love this deal so much. Not only because of the vintage, but based on the simple fact that wines from this terroir tend to drink very well in their youth.   This is a perfect example of that exact fact.
When can you start to drink this?  The answer is ... now.
One quick look at the notes from the Wine Advocate and it is easy to see why so many of you will be cracking open your bottles right away!

"Elia Palazzesi’s 2009 Brunello di Montalcino (from Podere La Pisana) opens with a pretty garnet color and a good amount of inner energy that comes across in clean, pristine pulse of plum, blackberry, leather and licorice. There’s a pretty smoky aftertaste that adds a smooth polished feel to the palate. This is a medium-bodied Brunello that offers cooling freshness and pretty menthol renderings on the close. Drink: 2016-2024." - 90 Points - Wine Advocate
With so many of you looking to buy heavy on the 2010 Brunello vintage, this is an offer you will want to pay close attention to.  There have been a few 2008's and 2009's that, when priced right, really turn out to be sensational buys.
This is one of them.
After you taste it - you will see why!
"The thing i'm loving about 2009 .... you're able to drink it.  We're approaching the holidays soon and we're going to want a Brunello on the table to enjoy with our guests and great cuisine ... and this is that vintage!" - Kristen Muir
