Fans of outrageously flavored, single-vineyard designate Pinot Noir, made famous by such winemaking stars such as Ken Wright and Williams Selyem, need to act now on this opportunity. Boasting ancient volcanic-rich soils, an organically farmed single vineyard, and the artisanal hand of owner/winemaker John Grochau, this is the special Pinot Noir you have been looking for!

Superior winemakers are inevitable here

Willamette Valley winemaking native Doug Tunnell of Brick House Vineyards makes some of the most electrifying Pinot Noir in the country. His contemporaries LOVE him… critics worship him, and it was under his tutelage that John Grochau was essentially reborn as Tunnell’s assistant winemaker. Grochau worked before that as assistant winemaker at Erath Winery, was a professional Bicycle racer, and for more than a dozen years worked on the floor of Portland's finest restaurant, Higgins. Today, John Grochau is decorated with such titles as the “purist winemaker” and the “classic impassioned winemaker”. In reality, however, Grochau's active Twitter feed, Instagram posts, and fascinating narrative reveal a hip, foodie-lovin, people’s man, working tirelessly to make and deliver phenomenal Pinot Noir right to your table. It’s really that simple.

It’s Willamette, dammit!

This wine is drawn from an organically-grown single vineyard, rooted in ancient basalt soil, in the heart of Dundee Hills in the northern Willamette Valley. Pinot Noir LOVES it here, where the long hours of summer sun combine with cool, dry temperatures so grapes can ripen slowly and develop extraordinary flavor and complexity. Even better, vines grow deep, very deep, through layers of soil and rock that were deposited millions of years ago.Today’s wine hails exclusively from Anderson Family Vineyard, much of whose fruit also goes to Bergstrom, Lemelson, JK Carriere, just to name a few.

"Anderson Family Vineyard takes the typical Dundee Hills flavors and aromas and turns them up a couple of notches. Their soils are thinner compared to most vineyards in Dundee, their slopes are steep, and the soil is littered with rocks. These 3 elements bring more struggle to the vines and thus more energy to the wine. The fruit profile tends to be darker and the aromas are both floral and full of sweet spices and coffee."

Foodie alert:

This is a region whose pioneering viticultural practices and voracious foodie culture has the makings of a stunning Pinot Noir opportunity delivering direct to you, just in time for Thanksgiving!!! We loved the 2011 Grochau Cellars Dundee Hills, a dynamic, handcrafted Pinot Noir, made in the same vineyard-designated philosophy as many of the now infamous producers, ranging from Ken Wright to Williams & Selyem. Both started small, essentially as ‘garagistes' to emerge with wines now considered some of the finest Pinot Noir in the country.

Rated, but oh so limited!!!

Josh Raynolds beamed effusively over this release, scoring it 90 points for its “spice- and smoke-accented red berries on the nose, with an exotic touch of potpourri…tangy and precise, with good lift to its fresh strawberry and raspberry flavors.” Delicious. But you’ll need to move fast on this one. Only 120 cases of this were made for the entire vintage. That’s it!

Thanksgiving is here. Now is the time to stock up on Pinot Noir
