Honestly, when was the last time you went to a store or restaurant, and didn't see Moet and/or Veuve Clicquot on the list?

Think for a second... You haven't, have you?

Doesn't the idea of two bottles of Champagne basically stalking you from one place to another strike you as a bit weird? Nobody ever used the word "ubiquitous" to describe something special, right? We love all Champagne at the Wine Library, we really do. But we think it's time you look at some producers who base their livelyhoods on quality instead of quantity.

Check out these 5 rock star Champagnes that will make you look a bubbly in a totally different way:

Laherte Ultradition Brut

We've had numerous Champagne producers come through the store, and one of the names that catches their eye is Laherte. This remarkable value has loads of complexity and great aromatics by the bucket full. A huge value at this price.

Baron D'auvergne Brut Cuvee Privilege

Looking for the "wow factor"? This is it. Harvested from only Grand Cru vineyards, this Pinot Noir based effort shows no shortage of richness, mouthfeel and texture, but is elegant and suave all at the same time. The only thing more profound than the quality is the the miniscule price tag.

Jose Dhondt Blanc de Blancs

The Champagne collectors have gotten hooked on this sublime producer, and his remarkable ability with Chardonnay is almost second to none. Year in and year out, this wine impresses the critics, but more importantly, the consumers. This is the kind of wine that will easily be 20-40% more expensive over the next 5 years. It's time you jumped on board.

Camille Saves Carte Blanche Brut

Another producer that can turn Pinot Noir into a must-own effort. This powerful, dense and rich Champagne producer can easily age, yet offers up generous flavors shortly after release. Don't miss out on their vintage bottling as well!

2008 Henriet Bazin Cuvee Marie Amelie Blanc De Blancs

This is a relatively new estate for us, but has the wow factor of an old friend. These wines are like "4th of July in your mouth". Bright, powerful and explosive, yet with exceptional clarity and extraordinary complexity. You've been warned!
