“Ideal conditions produced generous wines; not over the top

As Pinot Noir lovers know all too well, no grape is held to a higher standard of excellence.  Many Burgundy purists will reject American Pinot Noirs for being too ripe just as lovers of domestic Pinot Noir find Burgundies to be too subtle or earthy.  When Oregon Pinot Noir is right, it brings all Pinot Noir lovers in under the same big wonderful tent.

Gisele is right as rain and everybody’s gonna love “her”

Burgundian sensibility and no expense spared…

Willakenzie founder Bernard Lacroute grew up in France’s Burgundy region but found his way to the US at a young age and was at the forefront of the technology wave at Digital Equipment, where he was instrumental in developing VAX, the first 32-bit mini-computer.circa 1969!

In 1983, Bernard he landed at Silicon Valley startup Sun Microsystems, as vice president of engineering. There, he helped grow company sales from $4 million to a tidy $2 billion!

Fast forward to 1991: “Bernie” and his wife, Ronni, purchased a 430-acre cattle ranch in the Yamhill-Carlton A.V.A. After planting vineyards and building a state-of-the-art winery, they released their first wines in 1995!!!

Track record is everything…

59 Willakenzie Estate wines have scored 90 points or more from The Wine Spectator historically since their first releases in 1995!

Easy vintages and hard vintages, drought or too much rain, Willakenzie Estate always makes wines that are divine representations of what the year and theterroir offers up.  Take a look at what Vinous and Wine Spectator had to say about this release!

"Bright ruby. Appealing, expressive aromas of black raspberry, cherry compote and candied flowers are lifted by a hint of white pepper. Pliant red and dark berry flavors become sweeter with air, picking up spice and cola nuances. Shows very good energy and cut on the spicy finish, which is firmed by silky, harmonious tannins. " - 90 Points - Vinous Media

"Relatively light in structure, with fine tannins around a glowing core of cherry, cinnamon and cream flavors, persisting into a long, vivid finish. Best from 2016 through 2020." - 90 Points - Wine Spectator

Fit and proper approach…

Passion for Pinot with a Sense of Place is what defines and drives Willakenzie Estate…

They are strongly committed to wines which reflect the place on which the grapes are grown, sustainable farming, clean winemaking, small production of Vineyard Designated Pinots, respect of the environment and of the people who work in the vineyards and winery.

Quite simply they are doing everything the “right way”
