From the Critics:

  • #87 Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Wines of 2012
"It's rare to find a nonvintage blend with such attractive bottle age; in most the fruitiness dominates. This has a toasty character, with an almond note and a ripe mouthfeel that balances its warm pear and yellow-fruit flavors. This demonstrates a full, rich style. -R.V." (Reviewed 12/12) - 93 Pts Wine Enthusiast
  • "Firm and toasty, with hints of vanilla and shredded coconut accenting flavors of creamed apple, toasted hazelnut, lemon meringue pie and black cherry puree. Refined in texture and mouthwatering through to the smoky, mineral-tinged finish. Disgorged 2012. Drink now through 2023. -AN" (Reviewed 10/13) - 93 Pts Wine Spectator
  • "The current release of Charles Heidsieck’s 'Brut Réserve' was laid down on its lees in the spring of 2008 and disgorged at the end of 2012. It is a dynamite wine, soaring from the glass in a complex aromatic constellation of apple, peach, leesy tones, warm biscuits, incipient notes of nuttiness, a complex base of soil and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, young and rock solid at the core, with bracing acids, laser-like focus, very elegant mousse and outstanding length and grip on the complex and sophisticated finish. As has been true for many years, this is one of the top non-vintage Brut bottlings out there on the market today. While the new release is quite approachable today, I would not hesitate to tuck it away in the cellar for three or four years and really let it develop its secondary layers of complexity and allow the snappy acids to peel back a bit. Great juice. 2013-2030." (08/13) - 93 Pts John Gilman - View from the Cellar
  • " Light yellow-gold. Fresh citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by deeper notes of sweet butter, honeysuckle and toasty lees. Juicy and incisive on the palate, offering refreshingly bitter orange and pear skin flavors that pick up a smoky nuance with air. Clings nicely on the very persistent finish, which leaves smoke and floral notes behind. Forty percent of the blend is reserve wine, and it shows." (Reviewed 12/12) - 91 Pts Josh Raynolds - International Wine Cellar
  • "The reserve wines in this blend show in its richness and deep bass notes. It’s a complex Champagne that holds its mature flavors with cleanness and clarity, making it as refreshing as spring water. Scents of green apples and toasty lees add to the firm juiciness. For roast scallops." (12/13) - 90 Pts Wine & Spirits
