The 2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay delivers aromas and flavors of yellow apples, pears and vanilla. This wine is nicely balanced with a round core that is underlined by a lovely touch of acidity to balance it out. This Chardonnay is drinking beautifully now.

The 2018 Hidden Vines Red Wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry crumble, dark currants, tobacco, dried herbs and floral nuances. On the palate is offers a medium to full body with ripe juicy black and blue fruits that expand through the velvety finish.

"Very light straw-yellow with a whiff of minerally edginess, dried herbs and dried flowers, a faint suggestion of acetone, then a lemon-juicy palate that is generous and expansive at the same time as it retains its tautness and youthful reserve. There's a mandarin-like juiciness on the back-palate and finish, the aftertaste cleansingly dry. In all, a really delicious riesling that is already highly enjoyable and has a bright future."

This vineyard is a small enclave of vines surrounded by the city of Libourne. Now made by the Cheval Blanc wine team, it shows great style and richness. Black plum, dark berry, bay leaf and dried-meat aromas make for a heady nose on this bottling. The palate shows similar qualities, from the gamy flesh to the plum-berry fruit core, with hints of chaparral spice adding elegance.

This dark-ruby-colored wine offers aromas of cassis, coffee beans and smoke. A smoky note continues on the palate and is joined by black-cherry, blackberry, olive-tapenade, dark-chocolate and violet flavors. Although tannins pile on the palate and linger, a constant sense of brightness keeps them from becoming overpowering. That said, a grilled porterhouse or tomahawk steak would cut the tannins with equal vigor.

This is the primary production wine of Dubost from several parcels totalling ten hectares surrounding their home village of Lantignié, just south of Chiroubles and west of Régnié, with a terroir of Muscovite granite and blue clay. The gamay undergoes a classic semi-carbonic maceration of whole clusters over 15 days in steel tanks, with twice daily pump-overs, and is bottled in the spring with a light filtration and no added sulphur. The Beaujolais-Lantignié actually drinks more like a cru—which it may well become one day—and is frankly a terrific value. The aromas are lifted, tweaked by the barest hint of appetizing volatility, and the fruit and acidity are gorgeously interwoven.
