94 Points - Gary Vaynerchuk

"A massive fruit bomb that acts more like a Bordeaux then a Shiraz even though the "fruit bomb" term is used. Hints of cherry and black cassis and mint dance around this silky, velvety wine. The long but complex and stunning finish give it that extra push to become not just a good wine but a hedonistic effort."- Gary Vaynerchuk

"Historically, the wines of Villacreces have been a compromise between the newer style wines of Ribera and the classical styles (long ageing in older barrels.) The dynamic young owners who have just taken over the estate want to take the fruit from this amazing terroir in a slightly different direction, with shorter periods in oak to preserve the fruit and freshness of the wines. If their first vintage is any indication, they made a difficult but terrific choice. While some experts believe that Tinto Fino is in fact not far removed from Tempranillo, many experts based in Ribera del Duero strongly believe that there are significant differences between the two varietals, most notably with Tinto Fino over 50 years old. Traditionally, Tinto Fino has made up the bulk of the wines of Ribera, but additions of traditional Bordeaux varietals over the years has worked quite well to round out the wines and give them the additional structure needed to age for a very long time." -Importer
