John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"The 2009 Beaujolais from Domaine Dupeuble is a really terrific example of the vintage and underscores just how exciting the best wines from this year are going to be. The nose is deep and very sappy for a straight Beaujolais, as it jumps from the glass in a lovely melange of cherries, sweet cranberries, woodsmoke, a touch of bitter chocolate, fresh herbs, a bit of nutskin and a great base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-full and quite transparent on the attack, with a decidedly more black fruity profile than the lovely 2008, with good acids, fine focus and a surprising bit of ripe tannin on the very long, soil-driven and intensely flavored finish. A terrific bottle of Beaujolais. 2010-2020+."
