"Named for their grandfather, the Darde brothers' 2004 Costieres de Nimes Hippolyte (from their best Syrah, with a smidgen of Mourvedre) offers aromas and flavors of blueberry preserves laced with rosemary and marjoram. A gamey meatiness emerges on the sumptuous, full palate, but the finishing fruit remains pure and clear. This sweetly-fruited self-indulgence represents a superb value, although I cannot speak to how it might evolve in the cellar."
