The dry, red flagship wine, bearing the name Domaine Mercouri, is the result of the careful vinification of the Refosco and Mavrodaphne varieties, both grown on the estate. The Refosco gives the wine its dense ruby color and body and characteristic plum, spice and leather bouquet while the Mavrodaphne adds to the depth of color and complexity of aroma. The classic method of wine vinification is adhered to and the wine spends a year in young French oak barrels (Allier) in the estate’s underground cellars before being bottled, spending a further period of maturation in cellar before distribution.
