"Ronda was a highly regarded wine region in the pre-phyloxera 19th century. Today it lacks an entry in The Oxford Companion to Wine, 3rd Edition. However, thanks to people like the estate owner, Jose Manuel Ramos-Paul, and progressive importers like Eric Solomon, such regions are being resurrected. The 2004 Ramos Paul is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Tempranillo, 15% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. Dark ruby-colored, it has a lovely nose of cedar, tobacco, black currant, and blackberry. Plush on the palate, with a full-bodied personality, this well-balanced, spicy wine has a lengthy, pure finish. Drink it over the next 8-10 years." -91 points- Jay Miller- Wine Advocate

WINE:
"Situated at 1000m high, between the mountain ranges of Grazalema and Ronda, this cellar represents the largest surface of the first Andalusian red wine. Ramos-Paul is a wine which has a great personality which makes it have its aromas perfectly marked, between those are brought our ripe, red fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, and other spices." -Winery

WINERY:
"The vineyards of Ramos-Paul, called El Chantre, are located at an altitude of 3,048 feet, between the mountain ranges of Ronda and Grazalema. A place regarded by the Romans, over 2,000 years ago, as one of the top wine producing areas of their Empire."

"This winery has an underground cellar excavated into the limestone, under the old Roman town of Acinipo (which means 'Land of wines') and its impressive amphitheatre. This is the new project of a young couple, Jose Manuel Ramos-Paul Ruano and Pilar Martinez-Mejias Laffitte. This is a Chateaux style project, and they only make one wine. It is very specific to this terroir and is their flagship, Ramos-Paul. A wine with 'harmony'." -Importer

This scored 84 points in the Wine Spectator.
