"That being said we still had another year to learn about farming this site and making wine from it. In 1998, 2002 and 2003 we made fairly robust and powerful wines off of this vineyard. We have learned though that the vineyard is more prone to produce sappy, red tinged Pinots that are brimming with fruit and pure Pinot Noir goodness but really are not the blockbuster wines that we had been getting for a few years. We adjusted in 2004 and again in 2005 to make a wine that was geared toward brightness of fruit. The 2005 has sweet cherries and strawberries at its core laced with tobacco smoke and earthy spices. There are some stiff tannins that will resolve relatively quickly and are not really adding largesse to the wine. Ultimately this is a very attractive, stylish and full-flavored medium-bodied Pinot Noir which is what this site should really express. We'll miss it in the line-up. 265 cases bottled." -Winery
