This is a name that needs NO introduction. Ridge is one of California's most recognized names and they have been producing incredible wines for years including the blockbuster Monte Bello offering. For those of you who have not heard yet, it looks as if 2007 is going to be a blockbuster year for California Cabernet. All of you who look back and wish you bought more of the Cabernet offerings from the 1994,1997 and 2001 vintage will need to make sure you lock up as many of the 2007's as you can. The vintage looks to be that good.
2007 Caymus Cabernet Presale: Get it before the score!
This might be one of the most important bottles of Caymus to buy in the last several years as the 2007 vintage for California Cabernet looks to be one of the best in the last 20 years!
Robert Parker rated the 2007 California Cabernet vintage as a whole a 96, the highest rating since the 2001 vintage. Check out his notes on the vintage....
"This was a generally cooler than normal year in the north, with moderate yields, a few heat spikes, but overall a textbook growing season with no serious problems. This has turned out to be the greatest vintage since 2001 or 2002 for the Bordeaux varietals in Napa, although 2005 is very close in quality, if very different in style. The wines display extraordinary fragrance and gorgeously seamless personalities, with sweet noble tannins as well as terrific concentration and length. It is a very exciting vintage, with more alcohol than 2005, but slightly less alcohol than 2002 or 2001. The wines should be approachable young because of the sweetness of the tannins."

And Wine Spectator is also elated with the vintage, rating it 94 to 96 thus far, their highest rating for a vintage since 1999.

Impressive words from Parker. The 2006 Pape Clement is a must have for any collector on this list, we would recommend at least 6 to anyone who is trying to have a serious collection and is looking for one of those rare "value plays" of the top level: meaning $124 is far from what we would call value but when you compare it to the wines it most tastes and acts like the Pape Clement is just that!
This is one of the top wines of the 2006 vintage
